Meals on Wheels

Good nutrition and social interaction are vital for healthy living. Older adults in Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties have access to both through the Meals on Wheels program at the Tri-County Office on Aging. But without volunteer delivery drivers, this program could not exist! Over 1,600 volunteers deliver meals to older adults every weekday in the three counties.

Meals on Wheels drivers use their own vehicles to deliver nutritious meals to clients along a route. They pick up the food in coolers and hot bags from a designated site located near the route, deliver to 10-15 clients per the instructions included with the food, and drop the empty cooler and hot bag back off to the site. It only takes about one hour, and can occur anywhere from about 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on weekdays. You can choose to volunteer from every weekday to once per month, whatever your schedule allows. Training includes a ride-along experience with a current volunteer.

Please contact the Eaton County Meals on Wheels office at 517-541-2330 with any questions or to get started. For other areas of tri-county, please call 517-887-1460. You may also apply online at www.tcoa.org/volunteer and a staff will follow up with you.
